WHY IS GROUP HEALTH COOPERATIVE OF EAU CLAIRE OFFERING THIS?

As a member-governed cooperative, we’re in this together. That means we’re focused on making sure every member has access to the best possible care, at the best possible value. To that end, we believe that by giving our members more options to choose from, everybody wins. More choices. More freedom. More control of your health. That’s why we’re offering Best in Class Care.

WHAT IF I’M HAPPY WITH THE PROVIDER I ALREADY HAVE?

As always, choosing your healthcare provider is up to you. At Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire, we don’t make recommendations about which provider to choose or suggest that one might be better than another. Our goal simply is to provide you with more options to choose from, including the option to travel and save money.

WHAT PROCEDURES AND EXPENSES ARE COVERED?

You can search any procedure that’s offered through the Best in Class Care network. If it’s covered by Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire, in most cases that means we also cover the cost of airfare, lodging, daily meals and related expenses. In addition, you may be eligible for having your entire deductible waived.

HOW DOES BEST IN CLASS CARE VERIFY QUALITY?

Because there is no single, global standard for quality, providers in the Best in Class Care network undergo a rigorous evaluation process. Each facility is physically visited and inspected by the Best in Class Care team. Certifications are carefully reviewed and verified to ensure that each provider is in good standing. Patient outcomes and satisfaction are also monitored continuously by the Best in Class Care team.

WHAT IF I NEED ADDITIONAL CARE WHEN I GET HOME?

If you require additional care when you return, such as physical therapy or post-surgical followup, the process is the same as it is now. A case manager at Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire will work closely with you and your team of medical providers to ensure proper communication and coordination of care. In addition, the Concierge Care team at Best in Class Care works to make sure that all your documentation is safely shared, and in your local provider’s hands.

CAN I ARRANGE FOR TRAVEL ON MY OWN?

Yes. Planning travel through Best in Class Care is optional. You’re free to make your own travel arrangements, use your own travel agent or other website. It’s worth noting, however, that Best in Class Care uses the Priceline global travel engine. They do not markup Priceline’s booking fees so you can be assured of getting the same rate.

CAN I STAY LONGER AND TRAVEL IF I WANT?

When undergoing medical travel, many people choose to arrive early or stay longer, after their procedure is complete. The opportunity to take some extra time for vacation or recovery is one of the benefits of medical travel. As long as it’s okay with your healthcare provider, what you choose to do with your own personal time and money is up to you.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER?

Yes. In fact, most people do when they’re traveling for medical care. We encourage your companion’s travel and may cover some or all of their related expenses. To learn more, contact Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire at 715-552-4300 or 888-203-7770.
